About the Book

Sand Hill Interns is the first in a series of novels about marijuana and the turmoil associated with its legalization. The two protagonists, Alex Hadjitakis, a recently minted Ph.D. biochemist, and Eleni Xanthiou, a 2nd year MBA student, both at Stanford, are hired as interns by CTT for a three-month project involving field work in Brazil, Peru and Turkey where they encounter major gang violence. CTT, a Silicon Valley venture capital funded firm, seeks to develop pure, highly potent and addictive marijuana derivatives (S-Marijuana). The competition to discover marijuana synergists that magnify the effects and addictive qualities of marijuana is significant. S-Marijuana could dominate the multi-billion dollar global marijuana market. Former East German scientists are working with a Columbian drug cartel to develop S- Marijuna in a jungle lab in Brazil. A love triangle develops between Alex, his girlfriend Nancy, a Johns Hopkins medical resident, and Eleni who is of Greek descent like Alex. The story touches on the straight and gay sexual continuum.
